Joining Social Leverage

Over the last fifteen years, I have had the good fortune of scaling software businesses at varying degrees of product market fit:

From convincing people to put content on YouTube, to billions of daily views.

From teaching the TWTR value-prop to execs and celebs, to scaling their revenue to $2.5B.

From diversifying Headspace from B2C into B2B and Healthcare, scaling revenue to $100M+.

The throughline of my career has been great people. In each career transition, the people I would get the opportunity to join and to learn from were the driving force behind the decision.

In 2011, I started advising and investing and found it refreshing to step outside of my day-to-day operating role and to see varying subject matter, to lean in, and to help entrepreneurs avoid mistakes I have made in the past while serving as an objective sounding board. In 2019, I decided to take some time to focus more on investing and by spending time with smart people across Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco, the three cities I have called home over the last 15 years.

One of the first people I reached out to was Howard. We had met in the early days of Twitter and stayed in touch over the years. While in Phoenix helping a company I advise, I went on his podcast, we had dinner, and decided to find some ways to work together. Subsequently, I got to know Tom and Gary, and we all started spending more time together, in addition to spending time with portfolio founders and LPs. Across each conversation, I kept hearing the same positive things about the team and loved every interaction. The more I learned and the more time we spent together, the more natural things felt.

When Howard, Tom and Gary brought up the opportunity of joining Social Leverage as a Venture Partner, I jumped at the chance. I will be based out of Los Angeles and am looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and partnering with curious and hungry entrepreneurs who are solving big problems with software across the consumer, healthcare and enterprise space.
